Ariel School students' drawings were sent to Dr. John Mack at Harvard, from Zimbabwe, and are now part of the John E. Mack Institutes' archives.

The Institute first asked Randall Nickerson to make a short film about the event in 2008; he immediately decided to make a longer film about it and headed off to Zimbabwe for his first of three trips here.

As per the statement below seen by Greedysouth, The film is distributed independently after a deal with a major streaming platform fell apart.

Over the last 20 months, we were working to sell the film and got within the final draft of a deal with a major streaming giant. We were asked to clear our social accounts and not speak about what we were up to. We did it all because we thought it was the best way for the film to get to the most people. At the last moment, the deal falls apart.

It was unprecedented & ate up a lot of time and funds. BUT - we were relieved to have the film back in our hands, as it was going to undergo major changes.

In our film, NO ONE who wasn’t directly involved in some way with the Ariel School event is in the film. This makes it a hard sell in Hollywood. They wanted to get big names in it - we think the people in the film are fascinating on their own.

Our team gathered to watch it after nearly two years and fell in love with the original film all over again. We turned down subsequent offers to change it to distribute it. We decided to get it out ourselves, at least initially. We know it was the right choice for the story.
