"Walked my first red carpet, after my first single gave me my first nomination and first-ever award win. What an amazing night. Thank you, God." posted Charmaine on Instagram

The award was presented alongside a new category for Rap Album or EP of the Year which went to another female rapper Haviah Mighty for her album titled Stock Exchange.

Until 2022, albums and individual songs were considered together under the single Rap Recording of the Year category. The changes were announced as Juno Awards celebrates its half-century milestone coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the creation of the Juno rap category which was launched in 1991.

The award ceremony was held on Sunday, May 15th. Other multiple Juno winners included The Weeknd who took the songwriter of the year award for the third time, and contemporary R&B recording of the year for “Take My Breath” and Shawn Mendes, who won the TikTok Juno Fan Choice Award and the International Achievement Award.
