Zimbabwean Mazvita James Nyamarebvu Selected In The Second Round Of The 2022 Major League Rugby Draft

Mazvitaishe James Nyamarebvu was recently selected as the 11th pick in the second round of the Major League Rugby draft. Mazvita who has played for Zimbabwe's Young Sables was selected by the Dallas Jackals from Arkansas State University, where he had been playing for rugby the past 4 years for the Arkansas State Red Wolves. According to the draft statement he was selected as a fly-half.

The Dallas Jackals are a professional rugby team of Major League Rugby (MLR), the highest level of rugby competition in North America. The Jackals were named as an expansion team in 2020 and played their Inaugural Season in 2022 at Choctaw Stadium (former home of the Texas Rangers).

In the 2022 season, it was contested by thirteen teams: twelve from the United States and one from Canada. Officially sanctioned by USA Rugby—a member union of Rugby Americas North (RAN)—and consequently part of World Rugby, the league was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas.
