Inspired by the continent's diverse histories and cultures, "Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire" brings together 14 African animation directors from six different countries to produce 10 incredible short films. The 30-second trailer is accompanied by a Young DLC-produced soundtrack that features Poptain singing "I am the future!"

The show is curated and produced by the team at Triggerfish, including supervising producer Tendayi Nyeke, head of development Anthony Silverston, and Kevin Kriedemann. Oscar-winning director Peter Ramsey ("Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse") is serving as executive producer alongside Tendayi Nyeke and Anthony Silverston.

"It is with absolute joy, butterflies, and excitement to share with you the trailer for our labour of love for the last three years. I have had the absolute honour to Executive Produce with Peter Ramsey of Spiderverse awesomeness, and Anthony Silverston this groundbreaking Science Fiction Animation African Anthology coming soon on Disney+ worldwide. 14 African Animation Directors, 6 countries represented, and 10 incredible short films. We are the now, we are the future." shared Tendayi Nyeke.

The process of selecting the directors was extensive, with more than 70 leading creators from across the continent invited to pitch their ideas. After a multi-year research phase that included input from notable African film industry figures such as Ghanaian comic book blogger Kadi Tay, the shortlisted projects were mentored by Ramsey and the creative teams from Triggerfish and Disney. Zimbabwean 3D artist, Pious Nyenyewa directed one of the episodes.

Each film will be roughly 10 minutes long, and together they will comprise a feature-length anthology of original animation that will be released as a Disney Plus Original across the globe. Cape Town-based animation house Triggerfish is the lead studio for the anthology, working in collaboration with animation studios across the continent and globally.

The show's title, "Kizazi Moto," derives from the Swahili phrase "kizazi cha moto," which literally translates as "fire generation." According to Tendayi Nyeke, "Moto" also means fire in several other African languages, from Rwanda's Kinyarwanda to Shona, a Zimbabwean language, speaking to the pan-African spirit the anthology embodies.

Tendayi Nyeke, a Chisipite Senior School alumni, is currently an Executive Producer at Netflix. Her creative leadership work has been nominated for the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) across multiple genres. Tendayi has worked as a development executive on several SAFTA-nominated shows and has written, produced, and directed television programs across global platforms.
