Harare, Zimbabwe — Fresh from a recent headline show in Canada, Zimbabwean singer, songwriter and musician- Gemma Griffiths shares a brand new single, "Gold." This release marks the fourth instalment of her forthcoming debut album GEMMA, due out May 23.
Produced by longtime collaborator and celebrated Zimbabwean beatmaker Manuchie, "Gold" is a gentle yet powerful ode to the city of Harare — the place where Gemma’s story began. With lush Afro-fusion textures, subtle alt-pop inflections, and her signature soul-stirring vocal, the track captures the beauty of belonging, the weight of memory, and the quiet strength of community.
The song is accompanied by a visually rich collaboration with FABRIK PARTY — Zimbabwe’s trailblazing art and design initiative. Founded in 2020 by Ulenni Okandlovu as part of the Skeyi & Strobo Agency’s Community Activation Projects, FABRIK PARTY has grown into a vital space for bold expression, storytelling, and cultural celebration through fashion, visual art, and music.
The "Gold" visual is more than a music video — it’s a moving artwork. With striking styling and unmistakably Zimbabwean energy, it brings Gemma’s message to life with warmth and intention.
"Gold is a voice note of love - to Harare, and to the parts of myself I’m still discovering. Working with my friends at FABRIK PARTY made the visual feel like home. The spirit of the collective is fast, fearless, and full of heart — just like this city." - Gemma Griffiths
With each release from the album GEMMA: MHAKA, ALONE, NDAREMA and now GOLD, the self titled - Girl From Harare continues to carve out her space as one of Zimbabwe’s most cherished voices. She is bridging local stories with global sound, and shining a light on the power of collaboration across creative communities.
"Gold" is out now across all streaming platforms.
