Thrift & Threads set for Bulawayo debut

After hosting two groundbreaking editions that captured the imagination of Zimbabwe’s fashion community, Thrift & Threads is set for its debut edition outside of Harare.

The 21st of February 2026, will see the fast-rising fashion and culture platform host its first edition in Bulawayo; officially christened the BYO Edition.

The move marks a deliberate and strategic step in taking the event to communities across Zimbabwe, bringing people together through fashion, art, music, and creative expression. This marks a pivotal moment for Thrift & Threads creates more room for unrestrained and holistic creative expression.

Since its October and December 2025 editions, Thrift & Threads has morphed into a significant cultural movement; one that celebrates thrifted fashion, original design, and bold creative storytelling, while fostering a space where emerging and established creatives can meet on equal footing. The Bulawayo edition aptly represents the next chapter of that worthwhile journey.

Importantly, the BYO Edition is not about exporting a Harare concept into Bulawayo. Instead, it is rooted in collaboration, unity, and mutual exchange. The event seeks to shine a deserved spotlight on Bulawayo’s underrepresented and underappreciated designers, stylists, and artists, while encouraging meaningful collaboration with creatives from Harare who will also be part of the showcase.

“We view fashion as a unifier of different communities, an outlet for individual and group expression,” said Takudzwa Hillary Chiwanza, one of the event organisers.

“This event is about us trying new things, and seeing where that takes us. Our desire at this stage is to take this movement to other places in Zimbabwe, and revel in the collaboration and unity flowing from that. Bulawayo is a great place for artistic brilliance, and that is what we want to explore."

Keketso Sikabe, Administrator of Rise of Kings and Queens (RKQ), one of Bulawayo’s leading creative media platforms had this to say: "We are happy to be media partner of Thrift & Threads as it comes to Bulawayo f or the first time. This edition is about breaking new frontiers, building bridges between cities, and creating shared creative spaces where Zimbabwean talent, wherever it comes from, can thrive."

As with previous editions, attendees can expect the full Thrift & Threads experience: curated thrifted wares, original designer collections, innovative showcases, live music performances, DJ sets, and an enthusiastic audience drawn together by a shared appreciation of fashion and culture in their most holistic sense.

Held every two months, Thrift & Threads continues to position itself as a national platform, committed to challenging convention while at the same time celebrating sustainability and originality – carrying Zimbabwean fashion culture to new audiences.
