South Africa based hip hop artist, Hanna, and Afro R&B singer, Kyla Blac, have selected for Grammy Award winning artist Tems' Leading Vibe Initiative, South Africa 2026. A groundbreaking platform founded by created by the Nigerian singer to support, connect and amplify women in music.
Born from Tems' journey as a self-taught artist with a focus on driving change, the initiative offers training, mentorship, industry access, and community for women in music in Africa and beyond. With a mission to close the gender gap in the music industry, the Leading Vibe Initiative builds pathways for women to rise.
Hanna and Kyla Blac are part of a cohort of 20 women that includes 10 artists, 5 producers and 5 songwriters: Kyla Blac, Hanna Kuruneri, Kallo Matlanyane, Mia Ria, Namakau Star, Nana Atta, Naye Ayla, Nik Dawson, SEI SIREN, Uunathi Skaiila, Lee Soulaé, Tracy Mofokeng (Boujeena), El Yon, Lelo Syre, Nothemba Ntjatje, Mallashi Semenya, Lonnie Mak, Nothando Mamba, Santana Bottom, and Tsungai Mbuyazi.
The group had talks for leading artists, media personalities and music executives such as Zee Nxumalo, Uncle Waffles, Elaine, Kamo Mphela, Bonang, and Tsenolo Africa.
Kyla Blac is a singer, songwriter, producer, and dancer, with exceptional talent and diverse skills. She has captivated audiences worldwide with her soulful voice, compelling lyrics, and mesmerizing performances.
The singer studied and mastered piano at the prestigious Zimbabwe Academy of Music, adding a melodic dimension to her music. She been featured on BBC's UK Afrobeats Chart Show and last year she was selected for United Masters Africa's groundbreaking 'Most Likely' initiative. Kyla Blac described the Leading Vibe Initiative as a beautiful experience.

Hanna is a trailblazing force in South Africa's rap revolution. Bursting onto the scene at the University of Cape Town, Hanna captivated audiences nationwide through her triumphs in Mr Eazi’s #emPawa100 and Nasty C’s “Lift As You Rise” talent searches.
Nominated for Best Female at the South African Hip-Hop Awards for her debut mixtape, “The Girl in The Durag,” Hanna electrified Rocking the Daisies in 2022 and 2023. Last her single "can't stop" was number one on 5FM for multiple weeks and she earned her debut nomination for the AFRIMA Awards. The singer expressed gratitude at having been selected for the initiative.
