Sue Nyathi's 'The Polygamist' will be hitting our screens this June as a 22 episode telenovela on Netflix’s streaming platform. This will be the renowned writer's first ever adaptation for TV.
The show will follow the life of wealthy banking magnate Jonasi Gomora and his complex dating life, which sees him attempting to balance multiple women while drama ensues.
Produced by Stained Glass Productions the series is set to be one of the Netflix’s biggest telenovela yet. The cast is led by Gugu Gumede and Sdumo Mtshali, who will take on the roles of Joyce and Jonasi Gomora, a couple at the centre of storm.
The series will go live on Netflix on the 12th of June.
The Polygamist was Nyathi's debut novel, published in 2012. The writer followed it up with The Gold Diggers in 2018, A Family Affair in 2020, An Angel's Demise in 2022, and most recently Rubies & Rain. The writer won her debut literary award for a novel in 2023 at the Humanities and Social Sciences Awards.
