Vic Falls Carnival will be making its grand return in 2027, with the music event reclaiming its year end dates. From 31 December 2027 to 2 January 2028, the Seventh Wonder of the World will once again be the backdrop for an event that was once regarded as one of Africa's most exciting music festivals.
In the build to the 2027 return the event has announced activations that will go beyond the resort town.
"We're taking the carnival beyond Victoria Falls and bringing the experience to cities near you. Expect special activations, familiar faces, and a taste of what's waiting when we finally meet at the falls," read part of the event's statement.
The carnival was last held in April 2023, which was the event's 11th edition. Its post covid return had seen it shift to mid year dates that never became as popular as its New Year blowouts.
The announcement of the Victoria Falls Carnival's return comes just months after the Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) had declared the same but only to cancel the week it was set to begin. While excitement for the carnival is high, it remains to be seen if organisers are going to put in the work required to get one of Africa's most exciting festivals back on its feet.
