ZIMSWAG Entertainment chairperson, musician and businessman, Prince Tendai Mupfurutsa has been honoured for hosting the Akon-Sean Paul concert that took place at the National Sports Stadium on September 4. According to The Standard Mupfurutsa was the first runner-up in the Image Builder of the Year category at the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) Awards held in Victoria Falls on World Tourism Day, about two weeks ago.
Businessperson Emmanuel Fundira, who is the president of the Zimbabwe Council for Tourism and chief executive of Makuti Safaris, took the top award in the category. ZTA spokesperson Sugar Chagonda said Mupfurutsa was mainly honoured for his ability to host two of the world’s most renowned musicians at once in Zimbabwe.
“There might be some things he has done individually or through his companies that deserve recognition but the major highlight of his contribution to tourism was hosting Akon and Sean Paul. It was one of the best shows of the year and the adjudicators should have put that into consideration”Mupfurutsa said he felt honoured by the recognition and promised to do his best to make sure that the world’s celebrated artists keep flocking into the country. He said he would be hosting more international celebrities in the coming years through Zimswag.
