Nutty O Announces Release Date Of Debut Album 'Mustard Seed'

Nutty O I/G

Dancehall chanter Nutty O has announced the release date on streaming and download platforms of his debut album titled The Mustard Seed

“My first album The Mustard Seed is finally coming out on the 24th of September 2021 and please do enjoy the music,” the reclusive artist announced on Instagram Tuesday afternoon, sharing what’s ostensibly the album cover and a short note.

It’s no surprise, as Nutty O’s first studio album, The Mustard Seed  has been years in the making, in between collaborations and single releases.

Nutty O first appeared on the local music scene in 2015 as Nutty O Di Bwoy. He was signed to Kenako Music. He left the music stable in 2017, alongside Dj Tamuka, to form Military Touch Movement (MTN) with Jah Prayzah and Exq.  MTN was disbanded three years later, in 2020 due to bad blood among artists that were signed to the label at the time.

The Safe hitmaker is grateful to the fans who stuck with him through the ups and downs. “The road has never been smooth, sleepless nights, second guessing myself and a lot of hurdles along the way. I am glad you held it down for me. Thank you for being patient with me my ABX people, you are my family...”

Mustard seeds are the small round seeds of various mustard plants used as a spice in Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh.

The album title could have been inspired by one of the biblical shorter parables of Jesus that appears in the book of  Mark that reads, "..It's like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, though it is less than all the seeds that are on the earth, yet when it is sown, grows up, and becomes greater than all the herbs, and puts out great branches, so that the birds of the sky can lodge under its shadow.[Mark 4:30–32]
