The Border: A Short Film Featuring Zimbabwean Actors Tongayi Chirisa & Rick Cosnett Sweeps The 2021 Collaboration Filmmakers Challenge



A short film titled "The Border" written & directed by Gianinni Semedo Moreira featuring Zimbabwean actors Tongayi Chirisa & Rick Cosnett walked away with several awards from the 2021 Collaboration Filmmakers Challenge (CFC). The film won first place in the Jury Award while it also earned Gianinni Semedo Moreira the Adi Shankar Development Award and Shout! Factory Genre Filmmaker of the Future Award. Tongayi Chirisa was also awarded Best Actor in the drama category.


The Collaboration Filmmakers Challenge is a one-of-a-kind Los Angeles based film contest currently in its ninth year. It is based on the concept of working together with other filmmakers to make your own short film for the chance to be seen by industry decision makers and win over $20,000 in prizes and one of three development deals!


The concept is simple: Give help to at least one other filmmaker in the competition and receive help from at least one other filmmaker in the competition. The best films, as chosen by a celebrity jury and will be shown to a full house at the prestigious Harmony Gold Theater.

Tongayi Chirisa will be on the upcoming season of Another Life, set for release on Netflix on October 14 while Rick Cosnett is currently occupying the role of Jill on the Vaucluse Daily.
