Strive Masiyiwa Says He Never Tried To Buy Supersport United Football Club: "I Have Never Heard Of Them"

Zimbabwe billionaire Strive Masiyiwa dispelled rumours that alleged he had launched a bid to acquire SuperSport United Football Club - a South African professional football club based in Atteridgeville, Pretoria.

"With all due respect to the club and its fans, I had actually never heard of them," says Strive Masiyiwa in a statement seen by Greedysouth. "I’m sure they must be a great club but this is not my business. I don’t go around trying to buy sports teams. Even if you offered me the best sports team for $10, I would still not buy it because I don’t believe in buying businesses one knows nothing about. Sports is a serious business just like telecoms or mining or fashion; only I’m not into the business of sport." he continues.

“Please note that the rumours are completely untrue. As stated when these false rumours started in 2019, the club is not for sale.

“The club seeks legal advice on the publications or persons involved in continually issuing these false statements.”
