The Colo(g)niser comedy and poetry tour of Zimbabwe presented by Andrew Manyika comes to an end this Saturday 27 August at the Reps Theatre. It ran from 23 July and visited the cities of Kwekwe; Bulawayo; Mutare and will conclude its run in Harare with a live recording.

So, the question remains “What is the Colo(g)niser all about?” – it’s a unique live show that combines poetry, comedy and music to create a one-of-a-kind experience fit for the whole family.  It takes the audience on a ride through the funny side of everyday life, love, relationships and popular culture.

Andrew Manyika, a scion of the Manyika entertainment dynasty that includes renowned names like Sharon Manyika and the acclaimed late MC Emmanuel Manyika; is a distinguished poet and comedian in his own right. He began his career in Johannesburg and quickly ascended to dominate the local poetry scene being crowned Gauteng’s slam champion before embarking on his comedy journey which has seen him being nominated for the coveted NAMA award for Outstanding Comedian.

Since then Andrew has been blazing a trail on the global stage having represented Zimbabwe in Egypt, South Africa and the United States at various international festivals. But now, he is bringing his unique blend of comedy and poetry home.

Taking The Colo(g)niser tour around the country has been a dream come true, and I’m really looking forward to bringing it home to Harare for the live recording. We’ve pulled out all the stops and incorporated acts like Fusion 5 Mangwiro & Pauline Gundudza into the line-up. It’s truly an honour to be able to create that kind of rare experience for our audience.
