Here is the latest music project from Maskiri titled Motswako EP

It is a common saying in football that form is temporary but class is permanent. Zimbabwe musician Maskiri staged a return to the chart show nearly 5 years ago to prove the same point. In one of his interviews, the legendary rapper nullifies the ‘kupera’ myth saying that it does not hold water to claim that someone is washed out when they are still putting out work. Maskiri has dropped an EP titled Motswako to cement his remarkable longevity in the music industry.

The project is complemented by features that include his all-time compatriot Tererai and UK-based singer Lamont Chitepo. These features maintain Maskiri’s approach to rap where he employs good vocalists on the chorus and dedicates the rest of his prowess to the verses. The standout track so far is Nyararai which has sparked conversation on black African identity and has been at the mercy of Western liberal interventionism. He explores a deeply rich history of our culture by ‘silencing’ modern propaganda norms which relegate native beliefs as a mechanism intended to downplay the sovereign existence of communities in Africa. The accuracy of the historical revelation is however in question given the lack of procedural documentation of events in many centuries that have gone by. But, the idea is indeed noble.

Maskiri elevates the likes of Shayne, JBoss and D Swag on the project. Motswako EP is out and the Maskiri legacy is yet to be over!
