Francophone Week 2026: Vincent Kucholl, Arthur Bacon, Mokoomba & Nasibo

Harare is about to once again celebrate the richness and diversity of the French language with the 2026 Francophone Week, from March 7 to 22. This annual event, which highlights the French language and Francophone cultures around the world, offers a platform for exchange and intercultural dialogue for culture lovers.


Organized by the Alliance Française de Harare in partnership with 10 embassies (France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, Romania, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Greece and Serbia), the Francophone week promises a series of exciting activities celebrating the linguistic and cultural diversity of the French-speaking world.

There will be 5 key highlights of La Francophonie 2026: the screening of 7 films from different countries from the 7th to the 20th of March, The Mixx Concert on the 14 of March, No Laughing Matter on the 15th of March, the French Songs Contest from the 19th to the 20th of March and the Buffet de La Francophonie on the 22nd.


From March 7 to 20, audiences will have the opportunity to discover a varied selection of films from different countries, all with English subtitles. There's something for all tastes and ages: family films, dramas, romances, documentaries and even science fiction.

Screening will take place at the Alliance Française, and admission is completely free.


The Mixx Concert on the 14th of March with Arthur Bacon (France) x Freed (DRC) x Nasibo x Mokoomba (Zimbabwe) will bring a fresh twist on the guinguette spirit: French accordion meets Zimbabwean and regional sounds in a bold cross-cultural set. There will be live mashups, and genre-bending collaborations that undoubtedly ignite the dance floor.

On Thursday 19th March, Alliance Française will host a night of laughter! The "Swiss-Zim Comedy Night: No Laughing Matter" will bring together top comedians from Switzerland and Zimbabwe: Vincent Kucholl x Vincent Veillon (Switzerland) x Comrade Fatso x Munya x Magi (Zimbabwe)

    

The French International School in Harare will welcome 660 students from 44 schools, alongside 88 French teachers, for a two-day celebration (19 and 20 March) of music and language. Aligned with the Zim-FLE program run by the French Embassy in Zimbabwe, this event highlights the strength of Franco-Zimbabwean cooperation and the dynamism of French learners across the nation.


Sunday 22 March will see the 2026 Francophone Week close with a Francolicious buffet. The Francophone world is rich in cultures and cuisines. The day will offer a tasty journey across French speaking countries, offering you the opportunity discover a variety of traditional dishes.


All throughout the fortnight, the Three Perspectives exhibition by Greek, self-taught artist Nikolaos Petras will be on display, offering a visual journey through three decades of artistic experimentation.
