King Kandoro revealed as Unplugged's new management

For a while now it has been public knowledge the Unplugged Music Festival has been under new management. This has been evident since its December return in 2025, that saw it re-energised and once again focused on bringing a community together.

In the platform's debut podcast it has finally been revealed that the name behind Unplugged's new stewardship is none other than King Kandoro (Inini akatondiudza day raakaitenga). The award winning comedian shared that he purchased the platform from its founders Chiedza Danha and Ellinah Chipumha in September 2025.

This wasn’t just a business decision for him but one in part driven by sentimentality. Kandoro was not only a longtime admirer of the festival but the event was the place he met his wife and bonded with the people who would become his closest friends.

Since its launch in 2013 Unplugged has hosted 60+ events, 140+ unique acts and 25+ DJs on its stage. It has long celebrated local talent and this is a legacy Kandoro hopes to carry on, particularly with "The Next Superstar" initiative.

The festival returns for its third under the comedian's stewardship on 29 August, headlined by Takura & Shona Prince. Tickets are currently on sale via Hype Nation.
