From winning the Fashion Icon Award at the South Africa Fashion Awards, to going global with her YouTube show, hosting Sharks Rugby's In The Shark, making the selection for Kickback's Cannes Lions cohort and having her small screen debut, Kim Jayde has been trailblazing the entertainment scene in the past year.
These exploits are receiving their worthy recognition as the award winning media personality has been nominated for 2 awards at this year’s DStv Content Creator Awards. Jayde is in the running for the Trendsetter Award and the Telkom Best Online Series Award for her show Kickin' it with Kim Jayde, which has gone from YouTube to broadcast TV.
The media personality expressed gratitude at the nominations, stating that the journey with Kickin' it with Kim Jayde had surpassed anything she could've imagined.
"I created Kickin' it with Kim Jayde from my sneaker room in 2020 and could never have dreamed that six years later we would be on DSTV!" shared Jayde. "It sends such an important message to the industry that African creators should be taken more seriously, as worthwhile investments for long form content that lives on mainstream platforms like Bravo & DSTV!"
Jayde also added that she hoped to inspire young creators to chase their dreams.
"I also hope it serves as an example to show young creators that IT IS POSSIBLE! Consistent hard work, passion and a clear vision can make your biggest dreams come true. Your dreams ARE VALID!" she went on.
Celebrating professional creators whose careers have skyrocketed over the past 12 months, the Trendsetter Award sees Jayde alongside Anika Dambuza, Grace Mondlana, Lingling, Primo9teen and Zayaan.
For the Telkom Best Online Series Award the media personality's sneaker focused show will be up against Awkward Dates with Lasizwe, Hungry & Shameless, SABS Network and The Adventures of Noko Mashaba. The category celebrates creators producing original, high-quality episodic content with the production value and storytelling you'd expect from a traditional series.
The 2026 DStv Content Creator Awards will be hosted on 17 October at The Galleria in Sandton, Johannesburg.
