HARARE – Zimbabwe’s longest-running urban culture festival, Shoko Festival, has unveiled the lineup for this year's highly anticipated Shoko Comedy Night, set to be hosted on 24 September at Harare Gardens.
The event, which has become Shoko Festival's star attraction, will this year be headlined by the country's favourite uncle, Bamunini Nijo, Nigel Tha Slick Pastor. This sees the platform going from one NAMA Award Winner after another, after its last two editions were headlined by NAMA award-winning comedians Learnmore Jonasi, and King Kandoro.
This year's Shoko Festival will be running under the theme, "Unmuted," a celebration of artistic creativity and free expression. A fitting umbrella for Nigel Tha Slick Pastor's particular brand of humour.
The comedian is currently riding high on his recent exploits, which have taken him from local to international stages with sold-out events. Nigel Tha Slick Pastor has established himself as one of the most respected stand-up comedians in Zimbabwe.
This is equally matched by his offf stage pursuits, that have seen him build a reputation and commanding following on digital platforms for his hilarious skits.
Nigel's performance at the Shoko Comedy Night will arrive on the heels of a comedy tour through United Kingdom, presenting a perfect homecoming for the comedian. This will also be the comedian's first performance in Harare this year.
"I am so excited to be this year's headliner at Shoko, such a big festival and prestigious stage. This will also be my first time performing live in Harare this year so all my fans can look forward to a very special experience and memorable night," shared Nigel Tha Slick Pastor.
Joining him on stage will be the two of the New School Comedy Club's brightest talents in the irreverent Chipenzi, alongside actress and comic Magi, who has prominently featured on Bustop TV.
"This year’s line-up for the Shoko Comedy Night is a testament to Shoko Festival’s commitment to celebrating local stars and providing a platform to unheralded talent, in tandem with this year’s theme, Unmuted," stated Festival Co-ordinator Natasha Sipanera.
The brainchild of Magamba Network, Africa’s trailblazing creative and digital media organisation, Shoko Festival is set for its 16th edition.
