Nitefreak has added an Afro house twist to Papa Wemba's timeless classic "Yolele," bringing together the sounds of rumba and soukous with his distinctive and pulsating synth. A posthumous meeting of the Congolese King of Rumba with Zimbabwe's Afro house's prince.
The remix mirrors Nitefreak's most successful release "Premier Gaou - Nitefreak Remix" in not only the sounds that are brought together but a tale of heartbreak driving the storytelling in both songs.
The track arrives as part of a remix EP commemorating 10 years since the death of the African music icon. The international campaign honouring Wemba's legacy includes remixes by Kitty Amor, Pierre Kwenders, Osunlad, Honey Dijon, Juls, Boddhi Satva, and Joe Goddard, reflecting the breadth of his influence across contemporary electronic music.
Often regarded as one of Africa's greatest vocalists and performers, Wemba was also celebrated for his influence on contemporary fashion and a key figure in the rise of La Sape in Paris.
Nitefreak's "Yolele" remix is now streaming across all music platforms.
