Takura & Shona Prince set for Unplugged's August edition

The Unplugged Music Festival returns for its second edition of the year on the 29th of August and its set to be headlined by Takura and Shona Prince. One man, his two artistic identities and a live band.

Since 2025, Takura has carved out an experimental R&B persona as Shona Prince that has become as beloved as Takura if not more. These two catalogues will be on show as Unplugged goes fully local this August.

Alongside Takura will be Afro R&B and pop royalty Tamy Moyo, the founder of TrapSu Tanto Wavie, "Huya" hitmaker Sylent Nqo, talented vocalist Tahle We Dzinza and gifted vibe curators The Travellers Band.

On the decks will be renowned spinner Reverb7, the dexterous Pretty Gangsta, and the award winning DJ RSK.

In living up to Unplugged's celebration of live music, all the singers gracing the stage will be accompanied by Shabach The Band, one of the country’s most gifted instrumental ensembles.

The coming edition of Unplugged will see a few rule changes for the festival. Children will no longer be allowed into the event, and it will now be single entry at the gate, but cooler boxes are still allowed at a corkage of $10.

Since making its return last year in December with Liquideep, Unplugged has been re-energised and driven by a curation that appeals to both to longtime Unpluggers and new fans.

Tickets for Unplugged are currently on sale via Hype Nation at $20 - General Access and $60 - VIP.
