Gemma Griffiths Drops The Visual Masterpiece "AVA"

Gemma Griffiths

Gemma Griffiths continues her busy year in music with her latest release "AVA". It's her third release in just as many months and she's also released a short documentary within that period. Gemma is presently building up to her second titled "A Girl From Harare" which has high expectations off the success of her debut EP Pamwe, that dropped last year and her latest music shows a slight change in her sound. Kwale her last drop before this latest single carries a slightly quicker tempo from her usual craft although her vocal delivery is still as great as ever.

The Zimbabwean sound is still ever present but Gemma's music presents wider continental influences. Gemma's travels have clearly been absorbed into her creative process and the music speaks to this. The track is produced by Charlie Kay who delivers a high standard as always. AVA is not just a good song but a brilliant visual art piece. Directed by Kalai Barlow, the video features shots of cinematographic brilliance accompanied by beautiful choreography.

Gemma stars alongside dancer Tatenda Chabarwa and the standout moment for me was when they were laying a bed that was floating on a river while being completely in synch in their dance routine.
