Zimbabwe announce's the 5 artists for it's pavilion at the 61st Venice Biennale

The Pavilion of Zimbabwe will once again be returning to the World Cup of the Visual Arts,  the La Biennale di Venezia in Italy, in 2026. A celebration of art and architecture that ranks as one of the art world's most important events.

This week the artists and theme for the Pavilion of Zimbabwe at the Venice Biennale's 61st edition were announced by Lt General (Rtd) Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe, the Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture in Harare.

Commissioned by the National Gallery of Zimbabwe's executive director Raphael Chikukwa, and curated by Fadzai Muchemwa, the pavilion will run under the theme, Second Nature | Manyonga.

"What happens when the brain’s ability to rewire itself meets a world transformed by technology, crisis, and imagination? In Minor Keys serves as the overarching exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia 2026. Within this framework, Second Nature explores neuroplasticity as both metaphor and method, an entry point into thinking about how identities, stories, and societies are continuously reshaped..." reads part of the theme's synopsis.
